A new consultancy specialising in digital TV markets and technologies is launched today. Called simply The Digital TV Consultancy (http://www.dtvconsultancy.com), the organisation is set up to provide strategic support to clients managing projects and businesses in the digital consumer electronics field.
There are many paradigm-shifting trends in the digital TV market that need to be managed. The introduction of digital video recorder (DVR) technology; the move to high-definition TV (HDTV); the availability of new lower bitrate video compression algorithms such as MPEG-4 AVC and VC-1; the increasing penetration of broadband and the coming of IPTV; the introduction of new software such as DVB-MHP; and, the many issues of conditional access (CA) and digital rights management (DRM) are all set to have a huge impact.
